Tracy loves the versatility of watermedia, especially acrylics. Originally an oil painter, Tracy loves the “thin to fat” layering she can achieve, while quick drying time allows her to work the paint in many transparent layers like a water colorist and finish the same painting with thicker opaque passages like an oil painter. She utilizes the acrylic mediums that can build texture and add sheen. She stamps, carves, scratches and lifts paint to get the required effect. Building surface is her goal in the beginning regardless of the subject matter. From this exploration, a painting emerges and sometimes begins to direct the process in a different direction. She pushes through and loves that you can go forward and backward with this medium. Her goal in the end is to build a sophisticated surface that another artist may question how it was done.
“No two paintings can ever be created the same. That’s why we paint… It’s a beast we can never tame, but one leads us to the next…“

“Paint it like you mean it…!“
